On Friday 21 January 2022, the European Yacht Of The Year 2022 ceremony was held, virtually live on YouTube due to the cancellation of the Boot Düsseldorf.
The new Outremer 55 has been named the winner of the European Yacht of the Year 2022 award in the Bluewater Cruiser category.
“It is the largest, most influential and most widely communicated shipbuilding-related award in the world. Often referred to as the ‘Oscar’ of yachting, it reaches an international audience of millions of sailing enthusiasts, boat owners and industry executives,” as stated on the EYOTY committee website.
The winners of this prize, initiated in 2004 by the German sailing magazine Yacht, are chosen by a jury representing the twelve main European magazines, first and foremost Voiles et Voiliers (France), but also Yacht (Germany), Yachting World (United Kingdom), or Vela e Motore (Italy).
This year, in the flagship category “bluewater cruiser”, the five finalists were: the Ovni 400, the Allures 51.9 – shipyard of the Grand Large Yachting group – the Windelo 50, the HH OC50 and the Outremer 55.
This trophy is the fourth won by the Outremer shipyard in four participations after the Outremer 49 in 2009, the Outremer 5X in 2012 and the Outremer 4X in 2017.
« We are extremely proud that our latest addition to the Outremer family, the Outremer 55, has won the European Yacht Of The Year award in the blue water cruising category.
